What to do if the dishwasher does not turn on? Sometimes breakdowns occur, which can be completely eliminated with your own hands, the main thing is to know how. Do not rush to call the wizard, read our article and try to fix the situation yourself.
Why the dishwasher does not turn on
Are you trying to turn on the machine Bosch, Electrolux, Siemens, Gorenje, but nothing happens? The lights and indicators do not light, the control panel does not respond to keystrokes. What you need to do: first check the availability of electricity in the network.
To do this, connect another device to the outlet. If it does not work, then there is no voltage - this happens in houses with old wiring. Sometimes the voltage is simply not enough to turn on the equipment, so it is recommended to install difavtomaty and stabilizers. Wait, maybe electricity is coming soon.
Also inspect the power cord, it often suffers when transporting equipment. A heavy case can be put on the cord, and it is crushed or interrupted. As a result, not only the dishwasher may not turn on, but also a short circuit may occur when connected to the network. If the machine knocks out, then the reason is also in the network contacts. Therefore, before starting the installation, carefully check all the components.
The power cord cannot be repaired if broken. Full replacement required.
If no damage is found outside, check the insulation as follows:
- take a multimeter and set it to Ohmmeter mode;
- attach the probes to the plug and measure the resistance.
In addition to problems with electrics, the reason that PMM Virpul, Siemens, Electrolux, Veko and other brands does not turn on may be:
- Defective door lock. Until the door is closed tightly, washing will not begin.
- The start button is broken (stuck, sunken).
- Blown capacitor. This happens with a strong power surge.
- Problems with the control module. If the unit breaks down or burns out, the equipment will not turn on.
Find and fix the problem below.
The dishwasher turns on but does not start
Another kind of malfunction - the technique turns on, but does not work and does not start the washing process. At the same time, on the scoreboard you can see the error code that the self-diagnosis system displays. Also ПММ “Bosch”, “Indesit”, “Hansa”, “Ariston” can beep or buzz. There are probably problems with water intake.
If the program starts normally, the “Brush” indicator on the control panel lights up, which means the washing process.
- Turn the shut-off valve.
- Check for water in the tap.
- See if the intake hose is normally positioned.
If it’s not a blockage, then the problem may be with the filling valve. Why the dishwasher does not pick up water and what to do about it, read our article.
What to do to fix the problem
Problems in a dishwasher of any brand (Ariston, Hansa, Beko) can be fixed on their own. The main thing is to act consistently. Immediately check if the chamber door is normally locked.
Checking the Start Button
Visually inspect the control panel. If the power key has sunk or detergent has got into the connectors, cleaning and replacement will be required. Disassemble the panel and check the contacts of the button with a multimeter. Replace part if necessary.
Capacitor Replacement
As we wrote above, unstable tension can spoil not only nerves, but also equipment. Due to a sharp drop, the capacitor could burn. It is necessary to check and replace the element:
- Remove the decorative bottom panel under the door.
- Remove the fastening parts of the pallet.
- Open the hopper door, unscrew the drain filter and pull out the sprayer.
- Place the dishwasher on the back.
- Unscrew the screws and remove the pallet (simultaneously disconnect the wiring, if any).
- Find a capacitor. The part is attached to the circulation pump.
- If outward traces of burning are not visible, then check the element with a multimeter.
- Also inspect the wiring and make sure the contacts are working.
Problems with the electronic unit
Control board malfunction - serious damage. At the same time, the equipment either does not turn on at all, or it malfunctions. The module may break after water leakage. For example, during transportation, you did not remove the remaining water from the machine, and it got on board. Power surges also affect electronics.
You can only inspect the part yourself, but only the master can talk about repair or replacement. How to get to the control unit:
- open the chamber door;
- unscrew all the bolts around the perimeter;
- close the door and remove the outer panel;
- disconnect the wiring from the module, first photograph all the connectors.
If burnt parts are visible on the surface of the board or wires, then repair is urgently needed. Take the part to a service for diagnosis.
So step by step check all specified details. If it is not possible to independently detect a breakdown, it is better to consult a specialist.
