Often, when acquainting themselves with the technical documentation for a dishwasher, buyers come across a mysterious capacity parameter, which is measured in sets of dishes. On the label it is clearly written how many sets the appliance accepts and what “set of dishes” means for the dishwasher, not all manufacturers and sales consultants explain. We will tell you how many items are included in the kit, what kind of dishes it is and how it relates to the volume of PMM.
Our ideological inspiration - readers of articles and instructions - asked a lot of questions about this, so you should understand in detail what the kit is in the understanding of the manufacturers.
A set of dishes - how many appliances
What does dishwasher manufacturers mean by a set of dishes? Usually it includes those cutlery and appliances that one person needs for a full meal. How many appliances are these? 3, 5 or more? Let's figure it out:
- deep soup plate;
- a large flat plate for the second dish;
- salad bowl;
- saucer;
- a cup for coffee or tea (glass);
- one spoon and one fork.
Now it becomes clear that under the mysterious concept of “set of dishes” hides 6 tableware. Cooking utensils: overall pots, ladles, pans or baking trays - are not taken into account when calculating the volume of a dishwasher.
The listed devices may vary or vary - each manufacturer in his own way understands the definition of "set of dishes." Many manufacturers of PMM, speaking of a deep soup plate, mean flatter options than those that our consumers are used to (example in the photo).
Flat deep plates are much more compactly placed on the shelves of the dishwasher. If you have too convex soup plates, then with the declared capacity, for example, in 13 sets, only 9-10 can fit.
Attention! By dishes are not meant special dishes, such as for microwave ovens, but ordinary ones that are used daily.
PMM capacity
The concept of “set” exists to make it easier to determine the capacity of each individual dishwasher. Despite the fact that these parameters are approximate due to differences in the size and design of the dishes, it is worth considering them when buying.
Which dishwasher to take, you ask. It all depends on the needs:
- Compact machine accommodates 4-8 sets. The compact PMM category on the market is represented by models designed for 6 sets. This means that on the shelves of the dishwasher it will be possible to place a modest size pan or pan, if you reduce the number of dishes. Small PMMs do not fit oven trays.
- A narrow floor model, 45 cm wide, can accommodate 9-12 sets. There are models that can hold up to 13 and even 14 sets - usually these are premium class cars.
- A full-sized model will accommodate and wash 15-17 sets in one washing cycle.
PMM selection
When choosing a dishwasher, evaluate not only its spaciousness according to your passport, but also the real capabilities of the equipment. Relate the dishes that you use in everyday life with the one that the manufacturer speaks of. As a rule, small families of 2-3 people have enough machine power for 5-6 sets. Among these models are especially successful:
- Freestanding Candy CDCF 6 machine.
- The development of the German concern Bosch is a partially built-in Bosch SKE 52M55 model.
- Siemens SK 76M544 is another convenient model with the possibility of partial embedding.
To meet the needs of families of 4-5 people, a model with a volume of up to 8 sets is suitable, and better - for 9-10 sets. These are such models:
- Bosch SPV 53M00 fully integrated.
- Bosch SPV 58M50 is a similar model, designed for one more set of dishes.
- Hansa ZIM 428 EH is a fully built-in dishwasher.
- AEG F 65402 VI - a machine that is fully integrated into the headset, capable of washing up to 12 sets.
Models for large families (designed for volume from 12 to 16-17 sets):
- Bosch SMS 40D02 - freestanding model (12);
- Siemens SN 26M285 - non-embedded machine (14);
- Siemens SN 55M540 - machine with the possibility of partial embedding (13);
- Hansa ZWM 646 IEH, not embeddable (13);
- Asko D 5554 XXL FI - fully built-in, capacity - 17 sets.
When choosing this technique, the issue of economy, design or additional features is often not important. Capacity is the criterion that customers pay attention to first. The best option is a large narrow machine (45 cm in depth) with the possibility of half loading.
It should be prepared for the fact that the actual capacity from the declared may differ - and not by a large margin. As we found out, it depends on the difference in understanding of what a standard utensil set consists of.When deciding how many sets to take PMM, decide on your needs and needs, correlate your dishes with the one on which the capacity of the PMM is calculated.
